Anthropic launches dashboard and animation tools for Claude

Anthropic on Thursday introduced two new tools for Claude, Dashboards and Motion, as it moves deeper into the business software market.

Introducing Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion

Anyone who has asked an AI system for a business chart knows the awkward follow-up question: where did that number come from? Anthropic is making that question the centerpiece of its latest launch.

The company on Thursday released Dashboards, a beta feature that lets Claude build live dashboards from company data, alongside Motion, a tool that turns reports into short animated clips. Both aim at the same audience, which is workers who need to present numbers to colleagues without waiting for an analyst.

The pitch for Dashboards is accountability. Click any figure and Claude shows the query behind it, or explains it in plain language for people who don't read SQL. Each chart carries a timestamp showing when it last refreshed. Claude connects to warehouses including Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift and ClickHouse, plus tools such as Salesforce, and dashboards can be exported to other analytics products for deeper work.

That design reflects a lesson from earlier releases. When Anthropic added live artifacts to Claude Cowork this year, commentators noted that a dashboard refreshing itself is not necessarily one that can be trusted. Claude Code Artifacts, launched in June for Team and Enterprise customers, turned coding sessions into shareable live pages. Showing the query is a direct answer to the reliability worry.

Motion takes a different route. Anthropic has no video model, so Claude animates charts and text by writing code, which keeps every element editable until the final MP4 export. It is a more modest technique than generative video, but it suits business material, where accuracy matters more than spectacle.

The timing is competitive. OpenAI introduced a similar data agent a month earlier, and both companies are chasing enterprise budgets rather than simply selling model access. Data warehouse vendors already offer their own natural-language tools, so Anthropic must persuade customers to use Claude as the layer on top.

Dashboards is available in beta on paid plans, and Enterprise administrators must switch on both new tools. Docs, Slides and Design leave beta and become default features for Enterprise customers on October 15.
